James Gregory “Greg” Nutter, 61, of 6811 Tommytown Road, Sharpsburg, Md., died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Feb. 13, 1951, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Madeline Whisner Beard of Hagerstown and the late Grover C. Nutter.

He was a 1969 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

He was currently employed with Antietam Art Gallery in Sharpsburg. He was previously employed with Maryland Correctional Institute, retiring in 1991 after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Western Maryland Sportsmen’s Club; also a lifetime member of the NRA.

Greg was a lifetime New York Yankees fan.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Nutter; two sisters, Nancy Brezler and Joann Nutter, both of Hagerstown; four brothers, Steven Ganoe of Chambersburg, Pa., Frank Nutter of Hagerstown, Donald Nutter of Sharpsburg and Gary Nutter of Big Cove, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no viewing.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert E. McIntyre will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
