The Alsatia Club has awarded its annual scholarships to graduating seniors in Washington County.
The Alsatia Club Foundation awarded two scholarships.
Ashley Keedy from Boonsboro High School was awarded a $500 scholarship.
Ashley is the daughter of John Keedy Jr.
Ashley plans to attend Hagerstown Community College and Frostburg State University, and major in psychology.
She hopes to become a guidance counselor.
Also receiving a $500 scholarship was Andrew Shupp from Clear Spring High School.
Andrew is the son of Sharon and the late Marvin Shupp of Clear Spring.
Andrew plans to attend HCC and Salisbury University, and major in graphic design.
The Alsatia Club Foundation is a local nonprofit community/civic-based organization with goals of helping promote local students and community events.
Worthington Scholarship
The club also awarded the Robert and Hilda Worthington Memorial Scholarship to Lauren Fahrney, daughter of Anna and Rick Fahrney of Hagerstown, and granddaughter of Alsatia Club member William Fahrney and his wife, Peggy.
Lauren plans to attend Hagerstown Community College and Towson University to obtain a degree in registered nursing.
The $500 scholarship was established by the late Hilda Worthington in memory of her husband, Robert, a longtime Alsatia Club member.
Hilda Worthington died in 2010, and the Alsatia Club continued the scholarship.
