Mrs. Margaret Jane Bingham, 91, of Knoxville, Md., passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at her home.

Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Weverton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Myrtle Bingham.

Margaret grew up in the Weverton Baptist Church and became one of the original founders of the new church. She was a life member of the church and also taught Sunday school and VBS.

She was a first-grade teacher and she was truly dedicated to her job. She retired in 1986 after 42 years of teaching in Washington County. Throughout the years, she loved having her former students come up to her and remembering most of them. During the summer months, Margaret loved to travel.

She is survived by loving guardian and her best friend, Iris Young. She is preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis McGaha; and a brother, Horace Bingham.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, on Sunday, July 22 ,from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road, Rohrersville, Md., with the Rev. Wendell McClellan and the Rev. Clayton Clark officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Interment will be in Knoxville Reformed Cemetery.
