John Francis "Jack" O'Connell died Monday, July 9, 2012.

Jack was born in Trenton, N.J., to Francis John O'Connell and Mae Stanton.

Jack was the man "he didn't have to be." He met the love of his life, Dolores, in 1961 and together raised her seven children and later one granddaughter, "his little girl Dolores."

He worked hard all his life from caddying as a young boy to serving in the Army to working in the Post Office to painting. He was definitely a "Jack of all trades."

He was a man anyone could talk to and he really listened to you. He was a wealth of knowledge.

He was preceded in death by Dolores in 1996 and later by his companion, Elnora, in 2005. He is survived by his children, Howard and Andrew Brandl, Shirley Brandl, Mary Collins and Susan Jenkins; and lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He lived a full life and will truly be missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the family at 138 E. Washington St., Hagerstown.
