  • The Federal Little League 9-10 All-Stars open play in the Maryland State Tournament in Waldorf at 7 p.m. Saturday. Federal went 5-0 in the District 1 tournament, winning the district title on June 30 with a 15-0 win over West End. Braves-Blue Sox suspended

The game between the Hagerstown Braves and Martinsburg Blue Sox was suspended due to darkness after seven innings Tuesday night with the game tied at 9-9.

If necessary, due to league records, the game will be concluded on a date to be determined next week.

The Braves rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, getting a game-tying two-run single by Matt Fortese.

Zack Swisher, Joey Miller, Garrett Sanders and Devin Schaeffer each had two hits for Hagerstown.

Krumpe’s 5K on Aug. 10

The second annual Krumpe’s Do-Nut Alley Rally 5K run/walk will be held Aug. 10, starting and ending at Krumpe’s Do-Nut Shop in Hagerstown.

Registration and packet pickup begin at 6 p.m. and the 5K starts at 7:30.

Memorial 5K to honor Anderson on Sept. 8

The first Margaret Anderson Memorial 5K will be held Sept. 8 at the C&O Canal National Historical Park to honor former C&O Canal park ranger Margaret Anderson, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year while working at Mount Rainier National Park.

Registration and packet pickup will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Ferry Hill Plantation in Sharpsburg. Participants will be shuttled to the Antietam Creek Campground, where the race will begin at 9.
