Bruce Dennis Weber, 73, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Lee Albert and Evelyn Lavenia Hykes Weber.
He was a graduate of the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics.
He was employed by Coss Welding in Hagerstown, Md., and then went to work for Tristate Welding and Machine in Frederick, Md. He purchased the business and changed the name to Tristate Welding and Supply with his wife, Linda, and sold to Lee’s Gas and continued working in management and then became Valley National in Chambersburg, Pa. He was active in Smithsburg with youth baseball. He was a member of the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship.
He was a past member of Chewsville Lions Club.
Survivors include wife, Linda Darlene Galliher Weber, married for 32 years, of Smithsburg; son, Tod A. Weber of Ashburn, Va.; son, Scott D. Weber of Waxhaw, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lee R. Weber and Willis L. Weber.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, July 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Len Smith and the Rev. John W. Schildt officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
