Sullivan leads Open

LOTHIAN, Md. — Virginia pro Chip Sullivan, playing out of Hanging Rock Golf Club, held a one-shot lead over three golfers following the first round of the 91st Maryland Open on Monday.

Sullivan carded a 5-under-par 67, which included an eagle on the par-5 18th hole at the 6,685-yard Old South Golf Club.

Beaver Creek pro Dirk Schultz had a triple-bogey 6 on a par 3 that left him in a tie for 61st place at 3-over-par 75. Alex Hoffman shot a 76 and Christopher Taylor had a 79.

The 54-hole Open concludes on Wednesday.
