Anthony “Tony” Vincent Walchshauser, 68, of Hagerstown, Md., went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 8, 2012, surrounded by family and friends.

Born April 22, 1944, in Hagerstown, he is the son of V. Caroline Myers Cullison of Hagerstown and the late Russell E. Cullison.

Tony was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.

He was a 1962 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, and was a self-employed mason contractor and owner of TCG Crank Grinding Business.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Air National Guard of Martinsburg, W.Va., serving with the 167th Civil Engineer Flight as an electrical power line specialist.

He also was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 of Hagerstown.

Tony was an avid fisherman, and loved teaching his grandchildren and nephews how to fish.

In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Ruby Grove Walchshauser of Hagerstown; a daughter, April D. Schildtknecht of Clear Spring; two sisters, Carolyn A. Reel of Hagerstown and Sharon M. Guidice of Smithsburg; two brothers, Clement Walchshauser of Plainfield, Ill., and Mike A. Walchshauser of Hagerstown; stepbrother, Richard Cullison of Hagerstown; sisters-in-law, Judy Whittington and Joann Grove of Hagerstown; “Poppy’s” grandchildren, Bailey, Brooke and Brandon; great-grandson, “Poppy’s Buddy” Master Cole Matthew Harnish; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md. The Rev. Dale Carver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may visit the funeral home after noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
