Lyndsay Himes receives Wiebel Sports Scholarship

Lyndsay Michelle Himes of Hancock Middle-Senior High School was selected to receive the $500 Russell Weibel Sports Scholarship for the 2011-12 school year.

Himes carries a 3.47 grade-point average.

She lettered in varsity volleyball in grades 10, 11 and 12; in girls basketball in grades 11 and 12; and in varsity track and field in grades nine, 10 and 11.

In addition, she was student government association president in grade 12 and parliamentarian in grade 10.

She was class president in grade 11 and class secretary in grade 12.

She plans to attend Hagerstown Community College in the fall.

The scholarship is named for Weibel, a longtime radio sports announcer in Washington County. After he died, his family created a scholarship in his name.
