James Hartman "Jim," "Hick" Knodle, 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.

Born Feb. 10, 1948, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Dorothy M. McDonough Knodle of Hagerstown, and the late Preston H. Knodle.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1968.

He was retired from J & D Kitchens.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 10 and Funkstown American Legion Post 211.

He served on the board of the Hagerstown Area Church Softball League and Hagerstown Fairground Softball Association, and organized the Hagerstown Fairground Softball Umpires. He played in the church softball league, and Washington County Flag Football League.

He was a member of the Hub City Vineyard Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Celia J. Eichelberger Knodle; loving father of Sabrina J. Kelbaugh, and her husband, Mike, and their children Michael, Andrew, and Isabella; son, James M. Knodle, and his wife, Crystal, and their children, Kade and Eli; daughter, Jara L. Connor, and her husband, Jason, and their children, Jakob and Kiersten; brother, Donnie (Boog) Knodle, and his wife, Judy; sister, Anna Barnhart, and her husband, Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene (Flossy) Knodle.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Tri-State Fellowship, 13153 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown. Pastor Chris Schlotterbeck will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hub City Vineyard, 11000 Bower Ave., No. 12, Hagerstown, MD 21740, and to Hagerstown Area Church Softball League, c/o Celia J. Knodle, 20531 Trovinger Mill Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
