July 02, 2012

WILLIAMSPORT — A lightning strike touched off a fire that caused $150,000 in damage to a home early Saturday at 12200 Brookfield Ave. in Williamsport, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The fire was discovered by the occupant at 3:11 a.m. after lightning struck the roof, according to a fire marshal’s office news release.

The fire marshal’s office said no contents were in the house because the occupants were in the process of moving out.

Thirty firefighters from Williamsport, Halfway, Maugansville, Clear Spring, Funkstown and Hagerstown took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

The owner/occupant was listed as Katina Boyd, according to the release.
