Three children injured when vehicle hits tree

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Three children were taken to hospitals Friday morning after a vehicle hit a tree head-on southeast of Chambersburg, according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police.

Two of the children were airlifted to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center and the third was taken by ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital, the release states.

The children’s conditions were not available Sunday morning.

A 31-year-old Fayetteville, Pa., woman was driving south on Pa. 997 near the Pond Bank area at about 6:48 a.m. Friday when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, grazed a utility pole and hit a tree head-on, the release states.

The driver had minor injuries, police said.

That portion of Pa. 997 was closed for about 45 minutes, police said.
