Vacation Bible school

Longmeadow Church of the Brethren will hold its annual vacation Bible school July 23 to 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

It is targeted for those  ages 3 through fifth grade.

The theme this year will be “Parables of Jesus.”   

The church is at 19642 Longmeadow Road in Hagerstown.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 recorded losses of 43 3/4 pounds for the week. 

The best TOPS losers were Valerie Eccard, Betty Jones and Millie Toms. 

The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Dorothy Smith and Kathy Renner. 

The no-no snack for this week is cake. Mary Jo Kemper won the ha-ha prize. 

The Get-R-Done winners for the month were Darla Hartley, Eccard and Charlie House.  

KOPS members gave a yellow roses to TOPS members to encourage them to reach their goals in the coming year.

Concert planned

Although the 2012 Youth Extravaganza at Haven Lutheran Church has been postponed until the fall, the Captive Free concert is still on at the church at 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown.

The concert will be held Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.

The event will include music, skits and fun with Captive Free, a Christian band that travels throughout the eastern United States.

The community is invited. No tickets are necessary; a freewill offering will be accepted at the door for the band’s ministry.
