CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A 17-year-old Chambersburg boy has been charged as an adult in a robbery Thursday of Park Avenue Pharmacy, according to borough police.

Ryan Nicholas Laprad, of 1012 Paper Mill Road, is charged with one count of robbery, a first-degree felony, police said. He was arraigned Friday morning before Magisterial District Judge Todd R. Williams and was being held in Franklin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 5 at 1 p.m. in Franklin County Central Court, according to court records.

Chambersburg police said a male entered the pharmacy at 220 Park Ave. at about 3:50 p.m. Thursday, showed a weapon, and demanded cash and controlled substances. He then fled the business on foot, police said.

Chambersburg police, Pennsylvania State Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Franklin County Probation officers canvassed the area searching for the male, police said.

Police took the male into custody after he was found hiding in a yard in the 900 block of Wilson Avenue, police said.

Community members assisted law enforcement by reporting sightings of the male during his attempted escape, police stated.

There were no injuries, police said.
