Two Baltimore residents injured Tuesday when their vehicle rolled over on eastbound Interstate 70 near the Smithsburg exit remain in critical condition at a Baltimore hospital.
Christopher Nwachukwu, 52, and his 17-year-old daughter, Jessica Nwachukwu, were listed in critical condition Friday at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Medical Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Christopher Nwachukwu, one of seven family members in the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, lost control of the vehicle at about 2:38 p.m. near Mapleville Road after the left rear tire blew, state police said in a news release.
Nwachukwu's 49-year-old wife and their four other children, three boys and a girl ranging in age from 6 to 15 years old, were taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown, police said.
One of the children taken to Meritus Medical Center, a 6-year-old boy, had serious injuries but they did not appear to be life threatening, police said the day of the crash.
