Dance to benefit trip to amusement park

Dance the night away while supporting the For Our Kids' Sake effort to raise funds for the annual bus trip to an area amusement park.

This summer the trip will be to Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa. 

The Flamingo Disco will be held at Elks Lodge 278 at 326 N. Jonathan St. Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with DJ Tracy Gardner of Atlanta, Ga., on hand to help support the trip for area children.

The cover charge is $5. 

Wind down Friday

Bridge of Life Church, at 14 S. Potomac St., will hold a Wind Down Friday event today, starting at 6 p.m.

There will be music and an art exhibit on South Potomac Street, which will include work from members of the community.

Neighborhood group

The Medal of Honor Group, Neighborhoods 1st Association will meet Thursday, July 5, at 7 p.m. at Bethel Gardens Community Center.

Concert planned

While the 2012 Youth Extravaganza at Haven Lutheran Church has been postponed until the fall, the Captive Free concert is still on at the church,  at 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown.

The concert will be held Saturday, July 7, starting at 7 p.m.

The event will include music, skits and fun with Captive Free, a Christian band which travels throughout the eastern United States.

The community is invited. No tickets are necessary; a free will offering will be accepted at the door for the band’s ministry.

Vacation Bible school

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St., will host its annual vacation Bible school from July 15 to 19. The year’s theme is “Sky – All Things Are Possible With God!”

The school will begin with supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by classes from 6 to 8 p.m.

It will be a week of activities, including a biblical storyteller, imagination station, games and crafts. Classes are targeted for those ages 3 to adult.
