Person struck in leg by car after stepping out of taxi is taken to hospital

One person was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being hit by a car while getting out of a cab in the 100 block of South Locust Street, between East Baltimore Street and East Antietam Street, Officer W. Decker of the Hagerstown Police Department said.

A Plymouth Acclaim struck the leg of a passenger getting out of the back of a cab from Miller Transportation, pushing the leg against the back door, Decker said.

The passengerwas taken to Meritus Medical Center, Decker said.

South Locust Street was closed between East Antietam Street and East Baltimore Street until units cleared the scene at 7:07 a.m. Thursday.

Police responded to the accident at 6:45 a.m. Thursday.
