Child development center enrolling for school year

Open Arms Christian Child Development Center at Concordia Lutheran Church had two special events for the end of the school year.

On May 30, parents, grandparents, and congregation members were invited to the last chapel service of the year, where the children sang and also played handbells.

On May 31, the children and their extended families attended a picnic at Martin L. “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway.

Open Arms is now enrolling 3- and 4-year olds for the 2012-13 school year. There will be an open house on Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m.

Memorabilia show planned at Valley Mall 

A sports cards and collectibles show will be held at Valley Mall this weekend.

Tables filled with sports cards and other keepsakes will be on display throughout the mall through Sunday during mall hours.

Independence Day celebration planned

Williamsport’s Independence Day celebration will be held at Byron Memorial Park  Wednesday, July 4.

A patriotic concert by the Williamsport Community Band is planned at 7 p.m. with a fireworks display to follow at dusk.

Fireworks display at Fairgrounds Park  

Fireworks at Fairgrounds Park will be held Wednesday, July 4. Those in attendance should bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Food and refreshments will be available.

Events will begin at 6 p.m. with opening ceremonies and musical performance by Nowhere Men, Demtri Callas and the Teddy Boys, featuring special guest Michael Walls “Pokey” and Mike Sheer.

Yard sale to benefit CAC

The annual Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 yard and craft sale will be Saturday, July 7, from 6 a.m. to noon at 16129 Lappans Road in Williamsport.

Proceeds from the event will go to Washington County Community Action Council.

Tables will be available to rent for $15 per table under the pavilion.

Participants can bring their own tables and set up outside the pavilion for $10 per table.

Crafters can set up tents outside the pavilion for $25. Setup begins at 5 a.m.

There will be a concession stand for breakfast and lunch, and a bake sale table. 

The Washington County Antique Tractor Club will be on hand from 9 to 11 a.m. to give barrel rides to children and adults.

The cost is a donation to benefit CAC.
