Mr. Donald Thomas Forrest Sr., 75, of 13689 Blue Ridge Ave., Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. He had been in failing health for the past 10 months.

Born April 6, 1937, in Foxville, Md., he was the son of the late Thomas Theodore and M. (Lydia) Brown Forrest.

Mr. Forrest was a graduate of Thurmont High School with the Class of 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army from March 1956 until his honorable discharge in February 1962.

He and his wife of more than 37 years, Mrs. Cheryl Ann (Lehman) Forrest, were married March 7, 1975, in Greencastle, Pa.

Mr. Forrest began his working career at Site R, where he served as a supervisor. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for J. "Bob" Benchoff and as a delivery man for Bock Oil Co. Prior to his retirement in May 1999, he was employed as a supervisor at Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa., for 30 years.

He was a life member of Clarence F. Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6241, Mercersburg, Pa. and a member of Cascade, Md. American Legion Post 239 and Grove Gray Group.

Mr. Forrest enjoyed hunting, restoring antique tractors, yard work and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Donald T. Forrest Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Blue Ridge Summit, Dana Lynn Forrest of Selinsgrove, Pa., Donita J. Lyons and her husband, Michael, of Fayetteville, Pa., and April DeGregorio and her husband, Randy, of Woodstock, Ga.; five grandchildren, Donald T. Forrest III, Damanda Forrest, Brian Kintzel, Erika Lyons and Ariel DeGregorio; two great-grandchildren, Danayah Kaas and Hannah Forrest; a special aunt, Irene Flaugher of Sabillasville, Md.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patty Lou Baker; and one brother, James V. Forrest.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa., with Pastor Janet Comings officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Cemetery, Foxville, Md., where military graveside honors will be conducted.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
