Three Hagerstown alleys closed

June 27, 2012

Three alleys in Hagerstown are closed this week, including two through Friday, according to traffic advisories from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

• Hays Alley, which intersects with Wareham Alley and connects West Washington Street to West Franklin Street just west of Potomac Street (Md. 65), is closed between Wareham Alley and Franklin Street so work crews form Miller Pipeline Inc. can rehabilitate a sanitary sewer main at the rear of the North Potomac Street parking deck, according to one of the advisories.

The alley closed at 7 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to remain closed until 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the advisory.

• Bixler Alley, connecting South Locust Street to South Mulberry Street and between East Antietam Street and East Baltimore Street, and Cramer Alley, connecting East Antietam Street and East Baltimore Street  between South Potomac Street and South Locust Street, are both closed at the rear of the Washington County Library Site at 100 S Potomac St., according to another advisory.

Those alleys are closed so work crews from Dustin Construction can install a storm drain. They closed at 7 a.m. Tuesday and are expected to remain closed until 4 p.m. Friday, according to the advisory.

Emergency vehicles cannot pass through any of the three alleys while closures are in progress, according to the advisories.
