Scouts to hold recruiting day

June 25, 2012|Susie Hoffman | Around Funkstown

Calling all young men entering grades one through five. Funkstown Cub Scout Pack 23 will hold recruitment day at the Funkstown Park pavilion Sunday, July 8, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be games, food, crafts and a 30-foot climbing wall.

Battle of Funkstown dates are July 20-22

One of the events in Funkstown I look forward to with great anticipation is the Battle of Funkstown re-enactment.

This year’s re-enactment dates are July 20-22.

Full street battles and period-correct camps at the park are two of the featured activities.

Early-morning foraging for supplies starts the Saturday morning schedule. Residents are reminded to signify their desire to participate with supplies (fruits, beverages, vegetables, etc.) by marking their home with a red ribbon.

Schedules and ribbons will be delivered to all residents in the preceding week.

Battles in the park, string regimental bands at a Saturday evening dance in the park, camps open to the public and so much more awaits visitors to Funkstown that weekend.
