Hagerstown police investigate beating, robbery of taxi driver

HAGERSTOWN — Police are investigating a reported robbery and assault of a taxi driver Friday morning in Hagerstown.

Officers responded at about 2:20 a.m., according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

The driver told police that he picked up three males in their late teens at Hump Road and took them to the area of Main and Buena Vista avenues, the release said. One of the males then put a pillow case over the driver’s head while the other two assaulted the driver, causing minor injuries, according to the release.

The three took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area, police said.
