Convenience store in Huyetts robbed at knifepoint

HUYETTS — A Sheetz convenience store in Huyetts was robbed at knifepoint early Wednesday, Maryland State Police said in a news release.

The robbery at 12404 Lager Drive, off Md. 63 (Greencastle Pike) west of Hagerstown, was reported at 1:29 a.m., the release said.

According to police, a man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. At the clerk’s initial refusal, the man pulled a knife and was then handed an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man then fled the store and got into a black Ford Explorer that was last seen heading east on U.S. 40 toward Hagerstown, the release said.

The man was described as white, about 40 years old, wearing blue jean shorts, a brown T-shirt with writing on it, a tan or white hat and white ankle socks, police said.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Hagerstown City Police assisted state police.
