Crash temporarily closes eastbound I-70 at Sharpsburg Pike

June 17, 2012

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70, near the Sharpsburg Pike exit, were closed for more than an hour Sunday afternoon following a minor accident involving four vehicles, authorities said.

Three people were taken to the hospital following the crash, which was reported at 3:12 p.m., according to Washington County Emergency Services.

The eastbound lanes were closed, with traffic moving on the shoulder until tow trucks could arrive to remove two of the vehicles, emergency officials said.

The eastbound lanes reopened around 4:30 p.m., authorities said.

Sharpsburg Pike also is known as Md. 65.
