CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Taylor Lewis scored the winning from third base on Jose Osuna’s bases-loaded grounder in the bottom of the 10th inning as the West Virginia Power defeated the Hagerstown Suns 2-1 on Saturday night.
The Suns (42-26) were eliminated from the first-half title race in the South Atlantic League’s Northern Division, falling to 2 1/2 games behind division-leading Greensboro (45-24) with just one game left.
Before the Suns’ game ended Saturday, Greensboro already had clinched the title with a 5-4 victory over Charleston.
The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Cole Leonida drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Power tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Chris Lashmet.
The Suns had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth but failed to score.
Matthew Skole had two of Hagerstown’s six hits.
