Helen Weaver Bair, 89, of Clear Spring, Md., passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Born July 2, 1922, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Weaver and Ruth Bowers Weaver.
She was a 1938 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
Helen worked at Reisner Manufacturing Co. in Hagerstown for several years, owned and operated Helen's Tavern in Clear Spring for 19 years and worked part time at GNC Nutrition at Valley Mall in Hagerstown after retirement.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Cathy Bair of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Blair of Inman, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Blair) Gavin and Michael Blair, both of Middletown, Del., Tracey (Blair) Price of Newark, Del., and Caitlin Blair of Inman; and seven great-grandchildren, Aubrey Blair, Olivia Blair, Jessica Gavin, Sarah Gavin and Bobby Gavin, all of Middletown, and Mike Price and Taylor Price, both of Newark.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Blair; two sisters, Mary Dick and Betty Shives; and four brothers, Lloyd Weaver, Clyde Weaver, Nick Weaver and Ralph Weaver Jr.
It was her wish to donate her body to the Anatomical Board for research.
A celebration of life memorial service will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate.
The family will greet friends Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home.
