MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — One person was wounded early Saturday in a shooting at Sheetz at 1465 Edwin Miller Boulevard, West Virginia State Police said.
Troopers J.A. Padilla and Z.S. Conner received a call at 4:12 a.m. for a report of shots fired and found a male in the parking lot with a bullet wound to his leg, Sgt. Michael A. Cole said.
The victim was identified as William Olin Hamlin, 34, of Damascus, Md. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Cole said.
Witnesses told police there was an altercation inside the store between Hamlin and another male, Cole said. Outside the store, the other male pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting Hamlin once, he said.
The shooter got into a gray Kia four-door sedan and last was seen heading north on Interstate 81, Cole said.
The shooter was black, and was wearing a dark shirt and black and red baseball cap, Cole said.
