Thomas Warford Vantz, 91, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Jan. 17, 1921, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late Thomas Andrew and Hazel Ardella Myers Vantz.

He was a graduate of Hancock High School, Hancock, Md.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Kathleen Barney Vantz, Pearl Collins Vantz, Mary Otzelberger Vantz and Louise Bachtell Vantz.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, for 42 years until retiring in 1983.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a past member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Hagerstown.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 842, Hagerstown, and AARP.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Barbara J. Eichelberger and her husband, Gene, of Sharpsburg, Md.; stepdaughter, Patricia L. Gordon and her husband, Barton, of Edinburg, Va.; stepdaughter, Jean R. Threet of Edinburg; sister, Bette Crouse and her husband, Bob, of Hancock; brother, Fred Vantz and his wife, June, of Hancock; granddaughter, Candy Denkovich of Hagerstown; grandson, Darrin Eichelberger of Fairplay, Md.; and great-granddaughter, Danielle Kesselring.

He was predeceased by one sister, Ann Chaney.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., on Monday, June 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Prayers will be offered at 6 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Monday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jack Lombardi officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. Military graveside services will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 and the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
