David Paul Russell, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Homewood of Williamsport.

Born Jan. 10, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank Keifer and Lena Mary (Winters) Russell.

Mr. Russell retired from the state of Maryland prison system with 33 years of service as an accountant auditor.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received many medals, including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead.

He was a member of Christ's Reformed Church, Hagerstown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Jean (Tabler) Russell; and one daughter, Krista C. Russell Gould of Minneapolis, Minn.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 18, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Gregg R. Meserole officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday one hour prior to services where the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 378378, Hagerstown, will conduct a memorial service at 12:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; Hagerstown Community Rescue, 110 Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21742; or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
