Friday, June 15, is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

The Washington County Commission on Aging ombudsman staff hopes to increase public understanding of elder abuse and let Washington County residents know where to get help if they have questions or concerns.

To report suspected abuse in a nursing home or long-term care facility, call the commission’s ombudsman staff at 301-790-0275, ext. 238, a confidential line.

To report suspected abuse in the community, call Washington County Adult Protective Services at 240-420-2155.

If you or someone you know is in a life-threatening situation or immediate danger, call 911.
