Ice cream social planned at church

Virginia Avenue Baptist Church invites the community to an old-fashioned ice cream social Sunday, June 24, at 5:30 p.m.

The church is at 17426 Virginia Ave. in Hagerstown.

Several types of ice cream, along with lots of different and unusual toppings will be offered.

Games will be available for children through sixth grade. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair.

The event is free and open to the public.

In the event of rain, the social will be held indoors.

Vacation Bible school

Virginia Avenue Baptist Church will host its Son Rock Kids Camp vacation Bible school beginning June 25.

The event will be held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. each day through June 29.

Those ages 2 through sixth grade are invited to attend.


The school will include food, songs, games, crafts and Bible stories.

Registration is not required, but appreciated.

Concert series  

The summer concert series at Hagerstown City Park continues Sunday with a performance by the Hagerstown Municipal Band at Peter Buys Band Shell at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Movie special

Regal Cinemas at Valley Mall will hold its low-cost summer movie program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Admission to the G or PG rated films costs $1. The summer movie showings begin Tuesday, June 19, and will continue through Aug. 15.

Father’s Day  

This Sunday is a day to honor those fellows whowe call dad. A special thanks to my dad for guiding me, loving me and helping me grow be the woman I am today and a special thanks to my husband, Nick, for being strong and stern, yet funny, for being a positive role model, for being there for the good, bad and in between.

Bryce, Ty and I are thankful for you on Father’s Day and always. Happy Father’s day to all the wonderful guys that we call dad.
