Samuel Theron Shank, 85, of Boonsboro, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Fahrney- Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro.
Born May 28, 1927, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Hazel Elizabeth Myers Shank.
He was employed by the Washington County Board of Education until retiring in 1989. He was also self-employed as a painter.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.
Survivors include wife, Wanda I. Shank, married for 22 years, of Boonsboro; son, Richard Shank and his wife, Jean, of Hagerstown, Md.; son, Rodney Shank of Williamsport; son, Doug Poe of Winchester, Va.; stepson, Wayne R. Shoemaker of Lusby, Md.; stepson, Garry L. Shoemaker and his wife, Carolyn, of Pottstown, Pa.; and grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Sarah, Jason and David.
He was predeceased by one son, Phillip Shank; and one brother, Dair Shank.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, June 14, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. A. Paul Harne officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
