Washington County Department of Social Services

Sara Cohick, a social worker with the Department of Social Services, was recently recognized by the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office and Victim-Witness Unit for her forensic interviewing skills and efforts beyond the call of duty in the State vs. Charles Selby case.

With the help of her expertise, the jury convicted Selby and a judge sentenced him to 180 years in prison.

Cohick was commended during the hearing by Washington County Circuit Judge Donald E. Beachley for an outstanding job during the interview.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners also commended Cohick for her compassion and competence during the investigation and trial.

Millennium Financial Group Inc.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. — Michael Haeffner was recently appointed as a producing branch manager at Millennium Financial Group Inc., doing business as Mlend, a mid-Atlantic retail mortgage lender.

Haeffner will be responsible for managing production growth in the Frederick and Howard county markets in Maryland.

Haeffner joins Mlend with more than 17 years of experience in the mortgage-lending industry. He started his career in mortgage operations before moving into sales and management. His sales experience includes production and management positions within broker, banking and correspondent lending platforms.

Cracker Barrel

LEBANON, Tenn. — Joanne Bodley has been transferred to the position of general manager of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc.’s Hagerstown location at Interstate 70 and Md. 65, exit 29.

Bodley has been with the company since August 2005, most recently as general manager in Chambersburg, Pa. Before joining Cracker Barrel, she had more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

William G. Bowen Inc

Steven P. O’Farrell, vice president of William G. Bowen Inc., with offices in Hagerstown, was confirmed to serve as a board member of the Maryland State Commission of Real Estate Appraisers and Home Inspectors on March 29 by Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.

O’Farrell is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, is an MAI-designated member of the Appraisal Institute and holds the highest level of appraisal certification in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He has served on several community boards and task forces, and is a member of the Maryland Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Terry Shade, executive director and chief executive officer of Lutheran Home Care & Hospice Inc. and vice president, community health services, for Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania, was elected to the Pennsylvania Homecare Association’s board of directors for a three-year term.

The board represents the state’s home-care and hospice industry, which provides medical, personal and end-of-life care in the homes of nearly 1 million Pennsylvanians each year.
