Alice Virginia Snodderly, 74, of Funkstown, Md., died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Julia Manor Health Care Center.
Born April 5, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Ruth S. Gift Weddle.
Alice was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She was very active with the class reunion committee, organizing quarterly luncheons and summer picnics.
Alice was a stay at home mother and for many years was recognized for her homemade cakes and pies. Her specialty was red velvet cake with whipped cream icing, and also fresh coconut cakes. She also baked for several restaurants in the area.
She was an avid duckpin bowler for many years, ranking in the top 20 in the area. She was the top female bowler in the Tri-State Bowling Association in 1975-1976 season.
She managed the concession stand at National Little League for many years.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Dixon-Troxell Unit 211, Funkstown.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Snodderly; two sons, Chuck Snodderly and wife, Traci, of Hagerstown and Doug Snodderly of Funkstown; two sisters, Janet Shillingberg and Delores Weddle, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Sonny Weddle of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Samantha Snodderly of Hagerstown; three grandsons, Douglas Snodderly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Kyle Snodderly and Bret Snodderly both of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Kauffman.
A gathering of friends will be held Wednesday, June 13, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, from 7 to 9 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Alice's name to the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co., Firefighters Fund, P.O. Box 670, Funkstown, MD 21734.
