Two charged in connection with Martinsburg stabbing

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two people were charged in connection with a stabbing and assault Tuesday night in the 300 block of Porter Avenue, Martinsburg Police said in a news release.

Police responded to the area of 319 Porter Ave. at 11:40 p.m. and found Harold Messick, 50, who had been stabbed several times and beaten.

Messick was treated by medics at the scene and taken to City Hospital for treatment.

Two people who were with Messick at the scene were taken into custody.

Stella Elizabeth Huckabay, 20, no address given, was charged with malicious wounding and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Shawn Andrew Ganey, 23, no address given, was charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding.

They were transported to Eastern Regional Jail to await arraignment by a Berkeley County magistrate.
