Hagerstown mayoral candidate forum to be held Thursday night

June 06, 2012

A Hagerstown mayoral candidate forum will be held Thursday night to give the public a chance to ask questions of incumbent Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II and his challenger, David S. Gysberts, before the general election this fall.

Hosted by Citizens for the Protection of Washington County, the forum will take place in the meeting hall of Western Enterprise Fire Co., 526 Washington Square, at 7 p.m.

Barbara Hovermale, a member of the CPWC, confirmed that both candidates — Bruchey, a Republican, and Gysberts, a Democrat — will be present at the forum.

The general election is Nov. 6.

The CPWC will ask the candidates several questions and then allow audience questions, Hovermale said.

“We hope it’s going to be a nice turnout,” she said.

Gysberts ran unsuccessfully against Bruchey in the 2009 mayoral election.
