Mr. Paul C. Burns, 64, of Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012.

Born March 17, 1948, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Mrs. U. Catherine (Cartee) Burns of Fairplay, Md., and the late Council Porter Burns.

Mr. Burns attended The College of William & Mary and the University of Maryland, majoring in chemical engineering.

Since 1974, he was employed as a senior inspector for the Concrete and Cement Reference Laboratory, American Society for Testing and Materials, based in Gaithersburg, Md., and later moving to Frederick, Md.

Mr. Burns was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758, Owls Club Inc. and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, all of Waynesboro.


Paul enjoyed American history, was a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross, and devoted his life to helping family, friends and co-workers.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Burns is survived by his sister, M. Rosina Saitta and her husband, Tony, of Fayetteville; his brother, James A. Burns and his wife, Angie, of Hagerstown; his sister-in-law, Karen Bell of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, G. Robert Burns.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Sharron Blezard officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
