James Edward “Jim” McDonald, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Jan. 31, 1927, in Little Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry L. and Mary M. Ward McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae McDonald, on July 29, 2010.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He retired from Richard-Wilbert Vault Co.

He was a member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Leggett and husband, Willis, of Hagerstown; a son, Edward James McDonald and wife, Cindy, of Hagerstown; six grandchildren, Heather Dorrier, Angela McDonald, Jessica Livesay, Ryan McDonald, Todd McDonald and Lake McDonald; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden McDonald and Harrison Dorrier.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene L. McDonald.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 14615 Fairview Church Road, Clear Spring, Md. The Rev. Allen Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
