Milk producers group awards scholarship to Hagerstown student

RESTON, Va. — Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative recently awarded Tracey Forsythe of Hagerstown a $1,000 scholarship toward her 2012-13 educational expenses. 

Forsythe is a student at Delaware Valley College, where she plans to graduate with a degree in agribusiness and dairy science.

When home from school, she is responsible for milking cows, caring for calves and other various chores, including helping with her family’s orchard and fruit stand.

At Delaware Valley, she is active in the Dairy Society and dairy judging and also runs track and cross country.

After graduation, she hopes to start a small greenhouse business and eventually own a registered Jersey operation.

Tracey is the daughter of Michael and Christine Forsythe.

The scholarship program recognized 10 students, awarding five $1,000 scholarships and five $500 scholarships.
