Willie Baker, 75, of New Martinsville, W.Va., died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville.

Willie was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Branchland, W.Va., son of the late Walter C. and Grace Harless Baker.

He was a retired senior chemist for Bayer with 37 years of service, and owner of Willie Baker, C.P.A.A.C. for 20 years. He earned his business degree from Wheeling Jesuit, where he graduated summa cum laude.

He was a former director of Bayer Credit Union, a 10-year board member of Wetzel County schools and a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Paden City, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Floyd Baker; and two sisters, Louella Napier and Lavella Moore.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Roberta Jackson Baker of New Martinsville; son, Chris (Diana Estep) Baker of New Martinsville; daughter, Tamela Baker of Hagerstown, Md.; the biggest joy of his life, his two granddaughters, Abigail Grace Baker and Audrey Faith Baker; brother, Albert (Peggy) Baker of Proctorville, Ohio; sister, Roberta (Zach) Bills of Barboursville, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville. Willie will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, at First Baptist Church in Paden City, with his nephews, the Revs. Lucian Baker and Dan Baker, co-officiating.

Interment will be in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville.
