Ultralight pilot hurt after aircraft crash on Castle Hill Road

MAUGANSVILLE — The pilot of an ultralight was injured Thursday night when the small aircraft crashed in the area of Greencastle Pike and Castle Hill Road, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The pilot, identified as Jay Fogle, 42, was reportedly flying at about 20 feet when the ultralight crashed about 8:47 p.m., a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said.

The aircraft was found in the yard of 17202 Castle Hill Road with moderate damage, according to the news release.

Fogle was transported to Meritus Medical Center, where he was being treated for moderate injuries Thursday night, the sheriff's office said.

The Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the crash.

Castle Hill Road was closed from 9:11 p.m. until 10:36 p.m, the news release said.
