The Second Christian Church, 65 W. North Ave., hosts a food sale blow out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Choose from fried chicken or fried fish, macaroni and cheese, or potato salad or turkey salad with lettuce, and deviled eggs with chips and pickles.

All the menus include green beans and rolls, and choice of soda, cake or pie.  Donation is  $8. Eat in, carryout or call Agnes at 301-797-0407 for delivery.

Yard sale

The Daughters of Zion Women’s Ministry and the Sons of Zion Ministry will sponsor a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Zion Baptist Church, 61 W. Bethel St. Hotdogs, hamburgers and cakes will also be for sale.

National Christian Choir to perform June 16

Come out at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16, and hear part of the National Christian Choir, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. Tickets are free, but must be secured prior to the event due to limited seating. Email or call 301-733-4722 and leave a message.

Free summer meals offered for kids


Free Summer Meals for Children and Teens ages 17 and younger is operated by the Washington County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services.

The following are the host sites, dates and times:

Mondays through Thursdays, June 11 to Aug. 9. Breakfast is at 9 a.m., lunch is at noon, Bester Elementary School, 30 E. Memorial Blvd.; Winter Street Elementary School, 59 Winter St.; and Salem Avenue Elementary School, 1323 Salem Ave.

Neighborhoods First to meet Thursday

The Medal of Honor Group, Neighborhoods First Association will meet ay 7 p.m. Thursday in the Bethel Gardens Community Center. The community is invited.

Guest speaker at Bridge of Life

Kelly Wright will be the guest speaker Sunday, June 10, at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Wright is co-anchor of  “America’s News Headquarters Weekend” on Fox News.

He was recently honored at Morehouse College and inducted into theMartin Luther King, Jr.board of sponsors of Morehouse College based on his work with the “Beyond The Dream”  series on Fox News.

Wright has interviewed President Barack Obama, first lady Laura Bush, T.D. Jakes and Joel Osteen. He also covered the funeral for black radio pioneer Harold “Hal” Jackson.

In his career as a journalist, he received numerous awards for his reporting, including two local Emmy Awards.

Wright is also author of “America’s Hope in Troubled Times,” and is a Christian recording artist.
