Rape reported in Hancock

HANCOCK — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported rape Monday night in Hancock, according to a news release.

A woman told deputies and detectives that she was raped while walking her dog in the area of Canal Street between 11 and 11:30 p.m., the release said.

She said she believed the assailant was a male in his mid-20s who was wearing glasses, according to the release.

The victim’s name and age are being withheld.

Anyone who was in the area of Canal and Main streets between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. Monday and might have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to call Detective Sgt. Greg Alton at 240-313-2185.
