Braves capture Powell title

Former North Hagerstown pitcher Colby Fisher tossed a four-hit shutout on Monday to lead the Hagerstown Braves to a 5-0 victory over the Brunswick Orioles and the championship of the Reno Powell Memorial Day tournament.

Fisher went the distance as the Braves opened the season with a 6-0 record.

Shepherd University star Nathan Minnich had three hits and three RBIs and North Hagerstown junior Andrew Yacyk had a run-scoring single.

FAIRFIELD, Pa. — Ryan Crabtree, a junior at Williamsport (Md.) High School, won the two-day club championship at Mountain View Golf Club in Fairfield.

Crabrtree shot rounds of 75 and 74 for a 149, three shots better than his uncle, Brian Crabtree, for the win.

JuCo Tournament
PLYMOUTH, Ind. — Zach Weber, of Williamsport and Hagerstown Community College, tied for 26th place in the recently-completed National Junior College Division II Tournament at Swan Lake Resort.

Covering 7,112 yards on a par 72 course, Weber shot three successive rounds of 77 and then finished with a 73 for a 16-over-par 304. The meadlist was Ryan Mulvany of Tyler (Tex.) Junior College with a 5-under-par 283.

Former Smithsburg star Chris Bushey, playing for Potomac State, tied with Weber after rounds of 78-71-78-77.
South Mountain (Az.) won the team championship at 11 over par.
