Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - May 26

May 26, 2012

Thumbs up to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which has partnered with Gander Mountain to provide first-time campers with needed gear and a reservation for two nights at a participating state park for $20. In tough economic times, making family fun affordable is to be applauded.

Thumbs up to the eight people who went before the Hagerstown City Council this week with their concerns about the proposed multiuse sports and events center at the corner of Baltimore Street and Summit Avenue. Rather than simply complain to friends and neighbors, like so many often do, these residents exercised their public right to have their voices heard by the elected officials who will make the final decision.
