William “Bud” Kingsley Goodrich, 97, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his residence.
Born Aug. 25, 1914, in Shepherdstown, he was the son of the late William Edgar Goodrich and Octavia Edna Hill Goodrich.
Bud was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theater, serving from September 1941 through September 1945. He was a staff sergeant, receiving the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Antietam American Legion Post, and past commander of Turner-White American Legion Post in Shepherdstown.
He loved to garden, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Cash Goodrich at home; one daughter, Mina Goodrich and husband, Larry, of Shepherdstown; two sons, Dexter Dale Goodrich and wife, Murleen, of Alamosa, Colo., and Wayne Goodrich and wife, Donna, of Shepherdstown; one sister, Bernetta Hawbaker of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Robert Goodrich, Dusty Honn and Michael Goodrich; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Goodrich and Bonsal F. Goodrich.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, U.S. 340 at Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, W.Va.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
