Defense of Harpers Ferry
The two-day event will focus on Gen. Rufus B. Saxton’s successful defense of Harpers Ferry against Jackson during the 1862 Valley Campaign. Memorial Day services
Veterans groups around the region will host Memorial Day ceremonies this weekend. AMVETS Post 10 hosts a service featuring speaker Tom Riford, retired U.S. Marine Corps sergeant, bag piper Rick Conrad, Mason Dixon Barbershop Quartet “The Polished Four,” trolley car tours and refreshments at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Halfway Park Days
About 100 arts and crafts vendors, plus rides for the kids and barbecue chicken by Halfway Lions Club. Bike ride around Hub City
