Elmer David “Simey” Wyand, 74, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Md.

He was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Williamsport to the late Elmer Leo and Pauline Edna Easterday Wyand.
Simey was a 1955 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He was employed by AT&T of Columbia, Md., (formerly Western Electric) as a director for 37 years until retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God, Halfway, Md., where he taught Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

He was an avid fan of sports and played in several baseball and softball leagues throughout his life. He played in several tournaments in the over-55 senior league in Maryland, Arizona and Florida. He was a diehard fan of the New York Yankees, Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals.

Simey enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren and great grandson.

Survivors include wife Martha Jane Ambrose Wyand of Williamsport, whom he married nearly 54 years ago on June 29, 1958; daughter, Carol L. Hyndman and her husband Tom of Olney, Md.; son, Mickey Maris Wyand and his wife Kendra of Williamsport; sisters, Catherine Raymer of Hagerstown and Eleanor “Polly” Miller of Clear Spring, Md.; brother, John Wyand of Williamsport; grandchildren, Adam Hyndman, Victoria O’Neill and her husband Casey, Aaron Hyndman and Samantha Wyand; and great-grandson, Declan O’Neill.

He was predeceased by several siblings.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport on Friday, May 25, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Virginia Avenue Church of God, Halfway, on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. A. Paul Harne and Shawn M. Bushman officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown.
