Memorial Day closings

The following is a listing of closings and operational plans during the Memorial Day holiday:

Washington County

  • Offices and services of Washington County government, including the County Commuter and all landfill locations, will be closed on Monday.
  • The swimming pool at Martin L. “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway will open for the season Saturday. The pool will be open Monday from noon to 6 p.m. 
  • Essential government functions such as emergency 911 dispatch and the Sheriff’s Patrol Division will operate on a normal schedule.
  • The Washington County Board of Commissioners will not meet on Tuesday.
Washington County Public Schools
  • Washington County Public Schools and the Central Office will be closed on Monday.
City of Hagerstown
  • City offices are closed on Monday.
Chamber of Commerce
  • The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce will be closed Monday. The chamber will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
State of Maryland
  • State offices will be closed Friday for a service-reduction day and Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
  • Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation locations will be closed to the public from Friday through Monday. Unemployment insurance telephone and online operations will be available on Friday.
  • The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration will close its full-service, express offices and VEIP stations Friday, Saturday and Monday. The MVA will reopen for business on Tuesday.
  • All Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday through Monday. 
U.S. Postal Service
  • All Post Offices in the Baltimore District  — ZIP codes beginning with 210 and 219 — will be closed Monday. Delivery is limited to Express Mail in the major metropolitan area. Regular mail delivery will resume Tuesday.
