Fundraiser yard sale planned for Kahlil Himes

A fundraiser yard sale is planned to benefit Kahlil Butler, 12-year-old grandson of River City barber Donna Himes.

Kahlil was diagnosed with leukemia and is receiving chemotherapy treatments.

To help, donated items (no clothes, please) and baked goods for the yard sale can be dropped off at the River City Barber Shop, 2 S. Conococheague St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Wednesdays).

The yard sale will be held Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the community building at Byron Memorial Park.

Also featured will be face-painting, bake sale, music, Concessions by Southhards and other activities.



Relay for Life fundraiser is today

Tonight is Relay for Life Night at Roy Rogers Restaurant, 1719 Massey Blvd. in Halfway, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The restaurant will give a portion of the bill to Relay for Life.

Attendees need a flier to receive credit.

Yard sale to be held at St. James church

St. James Brethren Church, Lappans Road (Md. 68), is having an outdoor yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spaces under the pavilion cost $15 each and include one picnic table. Parking lot spaces cost $10, and participants provide the table.

Lunch will be available for purchase from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bike event seeks specialty vendors

Williamsport Bike Nite 2012 is scheduled for Saturday, July 21.

Last year, a crowd of about 1,000 filled the streets of Williamsport Town Center, all to benefit Williamsport nonprofit organizations.

Vendors are invited to apply for street spaces for this year’s event. Call 301-302-3878 for details and application paperwork.

Space is limited.



Williamsport senior site a ‘happening’ place

Are you bored, lonely and not having fun?

If you are 60 years old or older and answered yes, the Williamsport senior site at Park View Knoll, 215 Otho Holland Drive, might have the solution.

Manager Ron Butts invites senior citizens to join in the fun of bingo, cards, crafts, movies and other activities.

The senior center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A lunchtime meal is served, and a two-day advance reservation is required.
